Henry Ford Hospital Physician Elected President of American Academy of Dermatology
DETROIT, May 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Henry Lim, M.D., chair of the Department of Dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital and an internationally recognized dermatology expert, was elected president of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the world's largest dermatologic society.
Dr. Lim will serve as president-elect in March 2016 for one year. He will assume the presidency in March 2017 and serve for one year.
The AAD represents more than 18,000 physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and medical, surgical and cosmetic treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions.
When he assumes office, Dr. Lim will become Henry Ford's third dermatology chair to hold one of the top leadership positions at the AAD. The late Clarence Livingood, M.D., was president in 1967 and the late Edward Krull, M.D., was vice president in 1987. Dr. Lim served as vice president of the AAD in 2007.
An active member of the dermatology community, Dr. Lim is board certified in dermatology. He obtained his medical degree from the State University of New York in Brooklyn, and completed his dermatology training at the New York University School of Medicine in New York.
He is an internationally recognized expert in dermatology, and his clinical interests include vitiligo, phototherapy, photosensitivity, photoprotection and psoriasis. Dr. Lim has authored more than 350 articles and edited five textbooks.
