Send a message to the future with the Hennessy Time Barrel
TORONTO, June 25, 2015 /CNW/ - On the occasion of its 250th anniversary, Hennessy creates the Time Barrel, an interactive time capsule that stores video and text messages for future generations. And it will stop in Toronto during one week in July.
Since 1765, Hennessy has set aside its finest for future generations. "What if you could do the same?" is the questions on the first takes of the Hennessy's short clip "Sending a Message to the Future" release to explain this all project. Adding to Hennessy's trademark slogan "Crafting the Future", the short film features creative talents who explore the idea of leaving a trace, planning ahead and looking ahead to the future. Directed by Louis de Caunes, the clip features model and Sweat The Style founder Adrianne Ho, artist André and Hollywood producer and actor Josef Cannon.
Hennessy urges artists and individuals alike to look forward to the future and leave their messages into its Time Barrel to gain meaning and strength over time; similar to how Hennessy has continued to age its products and evolve them in over 250 years.
Want to leave your own #messagetothefuture? Visit the Time Barrel while it is in Toronto, Canada from July 8th to 14th or online at: sendindameesagetothefuture.com. All messages will be preserved in the Time Barrel in Hennessy's historic cellars in Cognac, where it will remain sealed until it is unveil, 50 years from now.

The Hennessy Time Barrel
One of the highlights of Hennessy celebrating 250 years of remarkable adventure is the Hennessy Time Barrel, on display from July 8th-14th on Bloor Street, on the street level patio of La Société, centrally located in Toronto's Yorkville neighbourhood.
The Time Barrel has been designed as an interactive experience to take part in Hennessy's tradition of perpetual transmission from one generation to the next. "My real mission is to prepare the eaux-de-vie for the generations of Master Blenders that will follow me…", says Yann Fillioux, Hennessy's Master Blender. Based on this idea, visitors of the Hennessy 250 Time Barrel installation and the Hennessy website are invited to send a digital text or video message to the future. This 21st century time capsule will preserve messages written in 2015, all around the world, in a barrel in Hennessy's historic cellars in Cognac. Messages for future generations will remain sealed in the Time Barrel until it will be opened 50 years later.
From March through October 2015, The Hennessy Time Barrel will travel to 9 cities all over the world. Destinations include Cognac, France (February), Guangzhou, China (March); Taiwan (April), Berlin, Germany (May), Moscow, Russia (May); London, Great-Britain (June), Toronto, Canada (July), Johannesburg, South Africa (August), Lagos, Nigeria (October)
The Hennessy 250 Collector Blend
In tandem with the announcement of The Hennessy 250 Tour, Yann Fillioux, the Maison's Master Blender, presented the Hennessy 250 Collector Blend: "To mark milestone celebrations, Hennessy has always carefully created a special cognac to illustrate a sense of continuity. Today, the Maison celebrates 250 years of savoir-faire and excellence by creating a unique anniversary blend."
Since 2010, Yann Fillioux, together with his Comité de Dégustation (Tasting Committee), has been selecting eaux de vie from amongst the ones he has carefully chosen and matured throughout his 50-year presence in the Maison. In order to prepare the Hennessy 250 Collector Blend, these eaux-de-vie were aged in 250 handmade, especially commissioned barrels of Limousin oak containing 250 litres each. Prior to that, they were aged in barrels for at least ten years under optimum conditions: temperate and oceanic, the epitome of controlled balance, of subtlety and "elegance", to borrow one of Fillioux's favourite terms.
About Hennessy
In 2015, the Maison Hennessy celebrates 250 years of an exceptional adventure that has lasted for seven generations and spanned five continents. It began in the French region of Cognac, the seat from which the Maison has constantly passed down the best the land has to give, from one generation to the next. In particular, such longevity is thanks to those people, past and present, who have ensured Hennessy's success both locally and around the world. Hennessy's success and longevity are also the result of the values the Maison has upheld since its creation: unique savoir-faire, a constant quest for innovation, and an unwavering commitment to Creation, Excellence, Legacy, and Sustainable Development. Today, these qualities are the hallmark of a House that crafts the most iconic, prestigious cognacs.
