HEDIS Home Runs: HPM Doctors Swing for the Bleachers with HEDIS Self-Reporting
DETROIT, May 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) is a tool used by more than 90 percent of America's health plans to measure performance on important dimensions of care and service.(1) HEDIS measures a range of health care services, including preventive health services like child immunizations and screenings for breast and cervical cancer. HEDIS also reviews care for chronic diseases like diabetes and asthma, to ensure optimal health outcomes for these patients.
Health Plan of Michigan (HPM) is committed to quality health care, and we give our providers additional tools to report this important HEDIS data.
HPM offers an enhanced web portal that allows network providers to self-report HEDIS data online, in addition to the traditional methods of claims submission. Using the secure web portal is fast and easy -- and it won Tigers ticket packages for three HPM practices.
In an effort to collect additional 2010 HEDIS data, HPM offered its network physicians an incentive to use the web portal for 2010 HEDIS hits. For every 2010 HEDIS submission entered through the web portal between March 1 and April 30, 2011, a provider received one entry into a drawing for 12 luxury suite tickets to a Tigers game, including food, beverages and parking. The more HEDIS data submitted, the more chances physicians had to win.
Three winners have been selected:
MHSN Mercy Family Medicine of Grayling, MI
Aaron K. Clark, MD PC of Port Huron, MI
MSU/KCMS Pediatrics of Kalamazoo, MI
Health Plan of Michigan congratulates these practices on their commitment to preventive care!
