HEALTHEC Selected by the Center for Diagnostic Imaging to Develop a Health Information Exchange Infrastructure and Enhance Regional Care Coordination
Health Information Exchange, Population Health Management and 3D Analytics Solutions to Help Provide a Single View of Each Patient across the Care Continuum
PISCATAWAY, N.J., March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- HEALTHEC (formerly IGI Health) a leader and innovator in health information exchange and accountable care solutions, today announced that the Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI) in Vineland, New Jersey has chosen to implement HEALTHEC's comprehensive Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform creating the infrastructure needed to support the various ACO and population management programs emerging around the southern part of the state. The HIE will be the foundation of a "Population Management Ready" infrastructure. HEALTHEC will then on-board physicians looking to meet their ACO and/or population management needs using the company's Population Health Management (PHM) and 3D Analytics suite. HEALTHEC will work with the region's leading independent radiology practice to develop a new HIE infrastructure to ultimately service the more than 4,000 physicians in Southern New Jersey.
Once the entire suite of applications are installed, HEALTHEC's HIE, PHM and 3D Analytics solutions will enable CDI to aggregate data across the state, allowing caregivers to not only organize and present their data findings, but also collaborate to ensure the highest quality of care is given. The HIE will be the precursor to a suite of applications that will incorporate a number of business intelligence and analytics tools that deliver actionable analysis – empowering physicians to make patient-centered decisions quickly and accurately. These systems will also be used to monitor and evaluate physician performance, act on key quality indicators, and effectively measure and report for Meaningful Use, PQRS, and other compliance requirements.
These providers will also be assisted by NJ-HITEC, New Jersey's Regional Extension Center, to support their needs to more effectively and efficiently use the electronic systems that they will be obtaining from HEALTHEC.
NJ-HITEC Executive Director Bill O'Byrne adds, "Our first and foremost obligation is to assist primary care providers and sub-specialists to utilize their EHR systems to improve the timely delivery of high-quality care and to attain the federal incentives available to them. We are pledged to support these doctors as they engage in this program and receive the integrated platform they need, just as we do for all providers throughout the state. Furthermore, we are also very pleased to join with HEALTHEC in this endeavor as it advances our overall strategy of converting all New Jersey physicians into Meaningful Users of health IT."
"Healthcare providers across the state of New Jersey and beyond are all trying to navigated the challenges involved with delivering the highest quality patient care and improved outcomes, while keeping their costs at a minimum," says Satish Shah, M.D. of CDI. "We chose HEALTHEC's HIE and integrated population management offerings because the company has a proven track record of integrating clinical workflows from disparate data sources in a way that supports better decision-making to create a sustainable healthcare delivery system."
HEALTHEC's service and software offerings will help CDI develop the infrastructure needed to support population health management services across southern New Jersey including Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties. HEALTHEC's interface implementation and support services will provide seamless connectivity across the care continuum and allow CDI to connect to its extensive referral network. The HIE infrastructure will leverage HEALTHEC's interoperability with a variety of electronic health record (EHR) platforms to deliver clinical messaging and diagnostic results in real time.
"For years, CDI has developed an extensive network of care givers across the state of New Jersey, and they understand the impact that enhanced connectivity can have on the delivery of patient care," says Tomas Gregorio, senior vice president and chief operating officer at HEALTHEC. "CDI's efforts to improve patient safety, eliminate redundant and unnecessary treatments, and lower readmission rates will not only lead to a reduction in healthcare costs for our state, but will also enhance the population's overall health."
