Healthcare Systems Nationwide Select Greenway's PrimeSUITE EHR
Meaningful Use Attainment, Health Information Exchange Connectivity, Integrated Solutions and Long-term Goals Cited as Key Drivers for System Partnerships with Greenway
CARROLLTON, Ga., Feb. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Hospital and medical group systems in California, Rhode Island and Georgia are recent samplings of large-scale institutions selecting Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc.'s integrated electronic health record (EHR), practice management and interoperability solution PrimeSUITE® 2011 to advance patient care and delivery and clinical care coordination structures.
In addition to selecting the core functionality of PrimeSUITE, the systems are making a range of integrated solutions available to medical staff and affiliated clinics, including Greenway's data aggregation and care coordination solution PrimeDATACLOUD™, online patient portal PrimePATIENT®, innovative clinician understanding solution PrimeSPEECH™, remote clinic PrimeMOBILE™ and advanced PACS solution PrimeIMAGE™.
"Today's healthcare leaders understand that successful care coordination means broad data liquidity that integrates clinical innovations and data exchange with financial and administrative requirements. That's a smarter delivery platform built to improve provider workflows and patient outcomes," said Greenway® President and CEO Tee Green. "We are gratified to be a trusted partner in these broad implementations and we are committed to providing a scalable infrastructure well into the future."
California
Based in Santa Barbara, the Cottage Health System of three acute care hospitals and separate children's and rehabilitative hospitals is making Greenway solutions available to its approximately 600 medical staff members who also practice in more than 50 primary care and specialty clinics.
In addition to the integrated PrimeSUITE solutions focused on provider and patient workflows, Cottage Health is also providing administrators with PrimeRCM®, Greenway's revenue cycle management and business analytics solution to coordinate and streamline billing, A/R and coding updates, according to Vice President and CIO Alberto Kywi.
A major connectivity initiative also leading to the selection of Greenway is the system's construction of a comprehensive Health Information Exchange (HIE) throughout all of its entities. Greenway's interoperability engine PrimeEXCHANGE®, in collaboration with mutual partner Medicity, shares structured hospital data that PrimeSUITE can import for inpatient and outpatient needs.
"The Greenway platform has everything we needed," said Kywi, "and provides the service and the support the physicians need to be successful with their implementations and utilization. We also felt Greenway was going to be the best partner for us to build a long-term program and vision together so that our goals could be met."
Rhode Island
The South County Hospital Healthcare System (SCHHS) in Wakefield selected PrimeSUITE for its employed providers offering surgical, family medicine, oncology, OB/GYN and behavioral health clinical services. Working as a community, they promoted the Greenway solution for the affiliated staff and offered hosting and support services at the hospital.
Connectivity for patient care coordination and workflow improvements were drivers of the selection of PrimeSUITE, according to CIO Gary Croteau. "We looked at about a half-dozen EHRs, and invited the entire medical staff to participate in the process. The providers saw workflow benefits beyond those of the other systems, and I saw the need for expanding Health Information Exchange (HIE). Those were two major selection factors.
"We want to build a very connected community," added Croteau, who is constructing a novel approach to patient engagement and communication through PrimePATIENT by establishing a single portal system-wide for hospital and clinic patients who may have multiple providers, done by integrating PrimePATIENT with the hospital's Meditech system. "The plan is to have one portal for all services possible, and that will make us unique."
South County is seeking to establish HIE capabilities that can provide a foundation for expansion throughout the region, and has interacted with the Rhode Island Regional Extension Center (REC) on health IT adoption strategies in the state. The REC's Rhode Island Quality Institute has selected PrimeSUITE as a pre-qualified EHR for state providers.
SCHHS has plans to build extensive information exchange capabilities between the hospital and the Greenway provider community, such as electronic orders, discrete lab results, bi-directional CCD, enterprise MPI, hospital PACS image review and more, leading to the selection of PrimeDATACLOUD for overall data management. "With the patient centered medical home, meaningful use and accountable care programs, the theme is change in healthcare and reimbursement models revolving around data and reporting, and collectively with these Greenway solutions we are better prepared for our future," said Croteau.
Georgia
Located in Carrollton, the Tanner Health System includes the Tanner Medical Group, a network of 38 medical practice sites that has begun implementing PrimeSUITE for its range of specialty providers practicing cardiology, family medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious diseases, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pulmonary and critical care medicine and vascular surgery among others.
In its selection process, Tanner was seeking an integrated solution that could also achieve meaningful use incentives capture for its eligible providers (EPs), and one that integrates patient registration and scheduling with clinical workflows such as medication reconciliation and referrals. Greenway's patented ability to provide custom specialty templates was also a factor.
"We have been searching for some time to find the software we needed that would work in a large number of medical practices, including those who offer very different services, " said Loy Howard, president and CEO. "Tanner Medical Group needed a resource that would be just as friendly for a gynecologist as for a cardiologist, vascular surgeon or family practice physician. We're fortunate that we've been able to find that at all, especially in a local partner like Greenway."
Added Medical Group Senior Vice President Dale Dreiling, MD, "When a physician logs on to view a patient's chart, he or she will know what other providers the patient is seeing, what medications that patient may be allergic to, and will even see reminders if the patient is due for a screening. This software will provide for much more productive patient-physician relationships."
