Healthcare Nation Awareness Foundation Retains TransMedia To Spur Enrollment In Affordable Care Act's Insurance Exchange Market
BOCA RATON, Fla., Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthcare Nation Awareness Foundation, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization in North Miami, has retained TransMedia Group to show how healthcare enrollment empowers people at the lower end of the economic ladder.
"We're grateful to be selected as it isn't every day you can serve such a noble purpose as providing healthcare to those who couldn't afford it," said TransMedia's CEO Tom Madden.
TransMedia said it will help the foundation's CEO Rone George, a licensed insurance agent and enrollment specialist, carry out what he learned from his Haitian mom—you can be successful regardless of their circumstances as long as you have your health.
Despite her being illiterate, George's single mom started her own business, a fruit stand, and through hard work was able to support her family and make a success of herself. "I remember her getting me up at 4 AM to take me to work with her."
"Rone wants to bring to less fortunate individuals that same desire to succeed and he feels a healthcare subsidy is an essential underpinning," said Madden.
TransMedia plans to show how HNAF partners with churches and tax offices to identify people who might qualify for medical insurance subsidy through the Affordable Care Act's insurance exchange market or even for Medigap or Medicare Advantage. George counsels individuals how to qualify, then connects them to one of the insurance companies to which HNAF is affiliated, including Humana, Cigna, United Healthcare, from whom he receives a referral fee.
"Rone would just as soon enroll someone in the best plan for that individual if he earns nothing in return," said Madden. "George wants people to understand changes in the healthcare landscape."
TransMedia said publicity will focus on increasing healthcare enrollment, educating enrollees how to access coverage, deal with payment issues and overcome language barriers, especially for Creole and Spanish speakers.
Typical HNAF clients are working middle class individuals not earning enough to afford healthcare insurance they need and deserve. The non-profit provides an 800 number and call center for data entry and plans education events all year long.
"We're on the ground floor setting the structure of how healthcare reform is going to grow. Tax professionals must include healthcare intelligence and incorporate healthcare into the overall tax picture," said George.
