WEST COVINA, Calif., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Hatch® (http://www.hatchearlychildhood.com) has awarded a TeachSmart® Learning System (http://www.teachsmartlearningsystem.com) to Sue Weiner, a special education teacher employed by the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) at Vincent Children's Center in West Covina, CA. Weiner registered with Hatch to win during the 2009 NAEYC National Conference. Members of the press are cordially invited to a media opportunity on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. PST at Vincent's Children Center to interview instructors and administrators and Hatch consultants, who will conduct the demonstration and training session at 1:30 p.m.
The Vincent Children's Center houses several LACOE special education classes, including Sue Weiner's special education kindergarten classroom which serves eight children with moderate to severe disabilities. All of the LACOE classrooms will share use of the TeachSmart® Learning System. "When I was notified that we won, I was shocked," stated Weiner. "It was beyond my wildest dreams." She foresees significant learning advantages for her students. "The size of the board and the large, colorful images will increase attention spans and captivate the children," she stated. Weiner will also be able to easily incorporate more tactile aspects into her curriculum, a key component of special education.
The TeachSmart™ Learning System is the first comprehensive interactive whiteboard software package developed specifically for early childhood and the only pre-kindergarten educational software accredited by SMART™ Technologies at the highest Select Level. The TeachSmart® Learning System is an interactive, hands-on technology tool which enables teachers to easily plan over 1,100 playful and purposeful activities designed around core school readiness skill areas of language development, phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, writing and math.
