Hartford Families in Need to Receive 32,000 Pounds of Food and Essentials Today from PepsiCo and Feed the Children
One week's worth of food and other supplies will be distributed to 800 Hartford families
HARTFORD, Conn., Sept. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Eight hundred Hartford families in need will receive a week's supply of food and daily essentials today, thanks to a partnership between PepsiCo and Feed the Children. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. at XFINITY Theatre, 61 Savitt Way, Hartford, CT.
Today's distribution event is part of Feed the Children's Defeat Hunger Month, a national initiative to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. It's the sixth annual event PepsiCo and Feed the Children have hosted in the Hartford community, where nearly 35 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. Similar events will occur in other major U.S. cities throughout the remainder of the year.

The receiving families have been identified and preselected by Community Renewal Team, a Hartford nonprofit organization.

"This also provides the opportunity to inform hundreds of families about other services that will help them reduce their bills and improve their lives."
Each qualifying recipient family will be given:
- One 25-pound box of nonperishable food items
- One 15-pound box of personal-care items
- One box of AVON products
- Disney books
- One 20-count SunChips Multigrain Variety Mix
- Pepsi beverages
- Stacy's Pita Chips
- Life Original Cereal
- Quaker Chewy Granola Bars
- Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix
- Aunt Jemima Pancake Syrup
- Fresh produce and nonperishable food items provided by Price Rite
