TEANECK, N.J., Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Seuss once said "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Kumon Centers across Manhattan are joining millions of people across the country to celebrate the 21st annual National Education Association's Read Across America Day on March 2, 2018.
NEA's "Read Across America Day," which celebrates the birthday of the beloved Dr. Seuss and the many characters that have been immortalized in his children's books across the globe, expects more than 45 million readers, both young and old, to pick up a book and read.
Kumon invites children ages 2-5 to kick-off National Reading Month by attending a free Kumon Story Hour at one of its participating locations across Manhattan. Participants will enjoy listening to selected Dr. Seuss titles, partake in interactive activities and enjoy a healthy snack. The first 20 families to arrive at each location will receive their very own Dr. Seuss book.
"Motivating young children to read was Dr. Seuss's inspiration throughout his remarkable career," said Alison Mori, Instructor of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Midtown East. "Developing a love for reading early is key and what better way to kick-off National Reading Month and honor Dr. Seuss on his birthday, than by fulfilling his passion for communicating the importance of reading."
