Groundbreaking Docu-Series "QB1: Beyond the Lights" Returns for Season 2 on February 28
New Season Returns to the Gridiron, Chronicling the Journey of Three Top Quarterbacks: Justin Fields, Sam Hartman and Re-Al Mitchell
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon and Complex Networks' docuseries "QB1: Beyond the Lights" debuts its second season from executive producer Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Patriots Day, Lone Survivor). Premiering Wednesday, February 28, the series features America's top high school athletes aiming to turn their football dreams into professional realities.
This season follows Justin Fields (Harrison High School, Georgia), the nation's No. 1 high school quarterback, along with Sam Hartman (Oceanside Collegiate Academy, South Carolina) and Re-Al Mitchell (St. John Bosco High School, California) during their senior year as they face the hard-fought road to national stardom. Season 1 introduced audiences to Jake Fromm before becoming a household name in college football at the University of Georgia. Fields has also committed to Georgia and will compete with Fromm for the starting spot next season. Hartman prepares to attend Wake Forest and Mitchell showcases the skills that landed him at Iowa State.
"The sacrifice and commitment these athletes put in to get to this point in their career is tremendous, but also just the beginning of the great challenge that lies ahead of them in pursuing their collegiate and potentially professional football careers. We're privileged to share this journey with our audiences and pull back the curtain on what it's really like to strive for athletic excellence. We look forward to bringing three new stories of triumph, hardship and persistence to our fans this season," said Ivana Kirkbride, head of digital content for Verizon.
"It's been an honor to capture these three young men's journeys at a pivotal point in their personal and professional lives. The heart, hard work and humility each of them displays will touch audiences who love sports and beyond," said Peter Berg.
"No one does a better job at bringing the audience inside to feel the highs and lows of these athletes than Peter Berg and Film45. Complex Networks is thrilled to be working with Peter to bring another season of "QB1: Beyond the Lights" to our fans," said Shawn Strickland, EVP Development for Complex Networks.
Season 2 of "QB1: Beyond the Lights" will be available on Verizon's portfolio of media brands including go90, Complex, Complex Networks' Rated Red channel, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo View, Rivals.com, Fios On Demand and Fios1.
The series is executive produced by Peter Berg, Matt Goldberg, Brandon Carroll, Peter Richardson, and Steve Clarkson with Rachel Libert as co-executive producer for Film 45; and Justin Killion and Melanie Moreau for Complex Networks.
