Greyhound Marks One-Year Anniversary Of Greyhound Express with Service Expansion To Florida
In-Demand Premium Service with Guaranteed Seats, Free Wi-Fi and $1 Fares Now Offered in 45 Markets across North America
DALLAS, Jan. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Marking the one-year anniversary of the debut of Greyhound Express™, Greyhound today announced it is expanding its premium service to the Sunshine State by adding routes from its Atlanta hub to Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Fort Lauderdale. Greyhound also is adding an Express stop in Fayetteville, N.C. Service begins Jan. 18 and tickets are now on sale with fares starting at $1 at www.mygreyhoundexpress.com. Since the launch of Greyhound Express in December 2010, Greyhound has seen an impressive 20-percent increase in overall ridership, with more than 1.1 million customers trying the premium service.
"As the industry leader, we are committed to providing a new class of service to our customers – as such, we created Greyhound Express to offer a more premium service and new amenities. Driven by overwhelming customer demand, we have effectively expanded the offering to 45 key markets across North America in the course of just one year," said Dave Leach, president and CEO, Greyhound. "The introduction of Greyhound Express to key Florida destinations now provides our loyal customers with a comfortable and convenient premium experience along the entire East Coast, from Boston to Miami."
Greyhound Express provides customers with service on new buses with reserved seating, power outlets and extra legroom. Customers can buy their Express ticket online to take advantage of discount pricing, print their ticket at home, or pick it up at a self-service ticketing kiosk, and know a guaranteed seat is waiting for them. Additionally, Express customers can relax in private waiting areas, protecting them from the weather, with a guest services specialist dedicated to providing an extra level of customer service. All tickets are nonrefundable.
But perhaps the amenity customers will appreciate most is the free Wi-Fi access. According to the TripAdvisor 2012 Travel Trends Forecast — a survey which captured data from more than 2,700 U.S. travelers — mobile devices are increasingly becoming a "go to" resource for consumers. Forty-four percent of U.S. travelers plan on using their mobile phone or smartphone more as a travel resource during trips in 2012, which means Greyhound Express travelers can enjoy their apps, play online games and research their destinations during their entire trip.
Greyhound Express provides short-distance non-stop or one-stop service originating from major Greyhound service hubs including New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Atlanta and Calgary, Alberta. For those who need long-distance connections, stations along Greyhound Express routes allow travelers to connect to more than 3,800 Greyhound destinations throughout North America. Aiming to introduce customers to a wholly new, faster bus travel experience, the service underscores independence from traditional, more expensive travel.
