Greyhound Anticipates More Than 650,000 Customers To Travel This Thanksgiving
With Even More Ways to Enhance Customers' Travel Experience, Greyhound Gears up for the Thanksgiving Holiday
DALLAS, Nov. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As everyone makes their travel plans for the Thanksgiving holiday, Greyhound reminds consumers that traveling by bus is one of the safest, most convenient and affordable ways to travel. As the largest provider of intercity bus transportation and with more than 650,000 customers expected to travel to more than 2,300 destinations across the United States, Greyhound is preparing for one of its busiest travel periods of the year.
"We expect the highest demand to be Nov. 25, 26 and Nov. 30, as many customers travel to their holiday destinations to spend time with loved ones on those peak days," said Andy Kaplinsky, chief commercial officer, Greyhound Lines, Inc. "We want customers to know that by traveling on Greyhound for Thanksgiving, they can simply sit back, relax and enjoy our modern amenities, such as free Wi-Fi, power outlets, extra legroom and leather seats, providing them with a comfortable ride and an overall stellar travel experience."
As Greyhound continues to celebrate its 100th anniversary, it stays committed to providing a more enhanced and personalized customer experience. With the recent introduction of the company's new onboard Wi-Fi platform that allows customers to browse specific destination content, earn E-Rewards and stay socially connected, as well as the new Greyhound mobile app that makes it easier for customers to book trips on the go, traveling on Greyhound this holiday season will be more enjoyable and stress-free.
Greyhound also eliminates the usual hassles of holiday travel that may be experienced on other modes of transportation. For instance, with fares starting as low as $1, customers can travel without the worry of expensive travel expenses. In addition, customers can travel more comfortably with no middle seat, so they can enjoy either an aisle or window seat. Customers are also able to check their first bag free, with the second bag only $15.
Because Greyhound anticipates a heavy customer volume this holiday season, the company suggests customers purchase tickets in advance and arrive at least one hour before their scheduled departure time on the day of travel. Customers should keep in mind that tickets are valid only on the date and schedule for which they were purchased. If customers wish to change travel arrangements, tickets can be re-issued for a fee if seats are available.
"To best meet the demand, we strongly suggest customers buy their tickets now, not only to get the lowest fare, but to ensure that their desired schedule is available," said Kaplinsky. "Customers should also consider being flexible with their travel plans and look at off-peak travel dates if possible."
To improve customers' experience, the transportation leader offers self-service ticketing kiosks at major terminals, Wi-Fi enabled terminals and a book on-line/pay with cash service. Tickets can be purchased on www.greyhound.com, on the new Greyhound mobile app, by calling 1-800-231-2222 or at company terminals and agencies.
Along with the company's traditional service, its popular Greyhound Express® service offers direct service between more than 1,000 intercity pairs in more than 120 major cities, covering more than a third of the company's North American network. Customers can purchase their ticket at www.mygreyhoundexpress.com, print their ticket at home or pick it up at a self-service ticketing kiosk, and know a guaranteed seat is waiting for them. Additionally, customers who book Greyhound Express tickets can relax in private waiting areas, with a dedicated guest services specialist to provide an extra level of customer assistance.
