PLAINSBORO, N.J., Feb. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Great Place to Work® and Fortune today recognized Novo Nordisk in the United States as one of the country's "Best Workplaces for Giving Back." Novo Nordisk, a world leader in diabetes care, ranked #16 out of 50 companies on the list.
Novo Nordisk regularly collaborates with like-minded organizations throughout the country in communities where its employees live and work by providing independent educational grants, community and patient health education, and charitable giving.
"A healthy economy and healthy society are interconnected, and serving people with serious chronic diseases and their communities is at the heart of who we are and what we do," says Jakob Riis, executive vice president and head of North America Operations. "Using our resources to address life's challenges – whether through financial contributions or the hands-on time, talent and expertise of our employees – is intrinsic to our culture."
In compiling the list, Great Place to Work® analyzed surveys from nearly 600 companies to rank those that best create a sense of purpose and meaning among their employees through involvement in the community. Not only do these workplaces stand out for their generosity, their team members also express a great deal of pride in what their organizations accomplish.
The Best Workplaces for Giving Back took into consideration feedback from about 240,000 employees in a diverse range of industries, as well as their companies' volunteer programs and charitable giving relative to revenue.
"The Best Workplaces for Giving Back are accomplishing something greater than the sum of their contributions to worthy causes. They offer employees a sense they're part of something bigger that's making a difference in the world," said Chinwe Onyeagoro, president of Great Place to Work.
Novo Nordisk and the other winning companies were selected based on responses to the Trust Index©, Great Place to Work's employee assessment survey. Employees rated their sense that they make a difference in their jobs, the meaningfulness of their work, and the impact they feel their organizations make in the community. The list also took into account company programs and an analysis of anonymous employee comments about their workplaces.
The Best Workplaces for Giving Back is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work® and Fortune based upon employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work®-certified organizations.
Novo Nordisk has been recognized on the Top 100 "Best Companies to Work For" by Great Place to Work® and Fortune for eight consecutive years.
