Gracie Awards Call for Entries Extended
WASHINGTON, Jan. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) has extended the call for entries for the 42nd annual Gracie Awards to January 19, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern in response to high requests for extensions.
"Now is a time, more than ever before, where we need to celebrate women for their exceptional work and contributions, especially in the media industry," said Alliance for Women in Media Foundation Chair Kristen Welch.
The Gracies recognize exemplary programming created by, for and about women in radio, television, cable and interactive media. Honorees are selected in national, local and non-commercial markets as well as among students. The AWMF will accept all entries submitted after the originally published deadline of January 12 through January 19 with an additional $50 late fee.
The application deadline for eligible judges of the Gracie Awards is January 12, 2017. Judges are chosen by the AWMF leadership after meeting the published criteria. Virtual judging of the Gracies will occur during the two-week period beginning the week of January 23, 2017. In-person judging is held the weekend of February 11, 2017 in the DC area. Honorees will be announced in mid to late March.
The Gracies are the largest fundraising event by the AWM Foundation, the philanthropic arm of AWM that supports educational programs, charitable activities and scholarships to benefit women in the media.
