COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 14, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Joining more than a dozen governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide in issuing similar proclamations, Gov. Mike DeWine officially recognized Jan. 26-Feb. 1 as School Choice Week in Ohio.
Ohio parents, schools, and other organizers have independently planned 2,761 events and activities across the state this year, including pep rallies, festivals, informational sessions, and more. The state's largest events include school fairs in Lima and Toledo. All events are designed to spark conversations about the educational opportunities parents have, or want to have, for their children.
More than 50,000 events have been independently planned for the week nationwide, raising awareness about the positive impact of educational opportunity on families.
"Ohio families are raising their voices loud and clear in this celebration of education and we're inspired by that," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "We're grateful for Gov. DeWine's proclamation and wish Ohioans all the best in their School Choice Week festivities."
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country.
