FRANKFORT, Ky., Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Gov. Bevin has issued a proclamation declaring Jan. 20-26 to be Kentucky School Choice Week, joining more than a dozen governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide in issuing similar proclamations.
In honor of School Choice Week, event planners have arranged 821 events and activities, ranging from school rallies to roundtable discussions, across the state of Kentucky. Each of these events aims to spark conversation about the educational opportunities parents have, or want to have, for their children. Nationwide, more than 40,000 events have been independently planned for the week.
"We are inspired by how enthusiastically Kentucky parents and educators are working to raise awareness of school choice," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "We are grateful to Gov. Bevin for supporting parents in recognizing the educational choices they have for their children and we wish Kentuckians the best in their celebrations."
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country.
