Leading composite manufacturer building larger facility near transportation hub to support growth
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo., June 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Gordon Holdings, Inc., parent company of Polystrand, Inc. and Gordon Composites, Inc., today announced plans to move its corporate headquarters and expand its Polystrand business in Montrose, Colo. to Douglas County, Colo. Gordon Composites will maintain its manufacturing facility in Montrose along with Polystrand's current operations.

Mike Gordon, president of Gordon Holdings, said the move is being made to support the company's growth. The new Polystrand facility will have 120,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space for its corporate headquarters, which is more than double the size of its existing facilities in Montrose.
"We need room to expand and being close to Denver International Airport will make it easy for customers to visit Polystrand as we work on development projects," said Gordon. "Easy access to major rail lines and transcontinental highways will also facilitate shipments of materials and finished products."
Polystrand produces reinforced-thermoplastic composites that provide structural reinforcement to the trucking, automotive, air cargo, wind energy and other industries. Many material experts believe the products are the next generation of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites, minimizing waste, increasing productivity and competing with steel and aluminum for strength and recyclability.
The new facility will be in the HighField Business Park just southeast of Centennial Airport near E-470 and Peoria. The company has agreed to take 16.6 acres of the 100 net acres at HighField Business Park. The deal is expected to generate up to 240 new jobs to Douglas County in the coming years, which is already one of the fastest growing counties in the United States.
Richard Hubina of Ringsby Realty Corporation and David Kienholz of Prudential Kienholz Group RE represented the tenant. Jeremy Records of Central Development in partnership with Bradbury Properties sold the land and will develop the project.
"This is truly a great story for Douglas County and the Front Range," said Jeremy Records, President of Central Development. "We're excited to be involved with a company that is on the cusp of so much growth. It's as if we were talking about plastics in the 1960's and all the possible applications."
Vectra Bank provided the financing for this project while Douglas County and the SouthEast Business Partnership were integral in supporting this project for its new job opportunities and potential economic growth in the area.
