DENVER, March 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- "GODSPEED – The Race Across America," chronicles the harrowing journey of ultra-cyclist/sportscaster Jerry Schemmel, who joins forces with an IronMan triathlete/CEO, Brad Cooper, in the world's most grueling endurance bicycle race – The Race Across America (RAAM). Audiences will get to experience this special event in movie theaters across the U.S. and witness the duo battling opponents, extreme terrain/weather, inner demons and occasionally each other, to reach both their dreams and be transformed by the experience.
Presented by Fathom Events and The Rudy Project, "GODSPEED – The Race Across America," an inspiring documentary of faith and determination, comes to U.S. cinemas for one special night on Tuesday, May 22, at 7:00 p.m. local time. Following the feature, attendees will view a pre-recorded audience Q&A with Cooper and Schemmel.
Tickets for "GODSPEED – The Race Across America" can be purchased online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in more than 650 select movie theaters. The "GODSPEED" event will give audiences nationwide a firsthand account of what it is like to face inner and external challenges, while testing the limits of friendship on this grueling trek across the country. As the documentary goes behind the scenes with the first-time race team of Cooper and Schemmel, through alternating shifts or pulls, the duo will attempt to pedal 168 hours non-stop from Oceanside, California, to the finish line in Annapolis, Maryland, raising money for the orphans of Haiti.
"Life is frequently compared to cycling in a variety of ways, but seeing this documentary creates an undeniable and powerful connection. While endurance athletes will revel in the realities of RAAM, the life lessons apply to all of us, regardless of age, occupation or athletic pursuits," Cooper and Schemmel said. "Whether chasing a seemingly impossible dream or striving to make sense of the daily struggles of work, family and life, 'GODSPEED' captures it all."
"'GODSPEED' will inspire movie theater audiences with its uplifting story of resolve, conviction and the strength of the human spirit," Fathom Events CEO Ray Nutt said. "This event resonates with both cycling fans and those looking to strengthen their faith in challenging times."
