SEATTLE, Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- GlobalScholar®, a trusted provider of intelligent, data-driven education technology solutions, today commended the recent efforts in Congress to expand computer adaptive testing through the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, more commonly known as No Child Left Behind (NCLB).

Under the leadership of Rep. John Kline (R-MN), Chairman of the House Education and Workforce Committee, the Student Success Act (H.R. 3989) specifically includes the addition of computer adaptive assessments to measure student performance and growth against state standards. The legislation also permits States to measure performance above and below a student's grade level, leading to even more accurate and up-to-date personalized learning plans. These plans would provide the most relevant and timely information for administrators, teachers and parents to not only monitor learning gaps, but intervene and make real-time adjustments, providing a better outcome across all tested subjects when students are ready to be measured at the summative, high-stakes test stage.
GlobalScholar is committed to supporting students and teachers through the expansion of computer adaptive assessments authorized by the Student Success Act. GlobalScholar's Scantron-branded Performance Series® provides computer adaptive diagnostic tools that assess student proficiency in Reading, Language Arts, Math, and Life Science for Grades 2 through 12.
John Lawler, President of GlobalScholar, remarked, "Using technology to provide clearer insight from data to accelerate student growth and achievement is at the core of the GlobalScholar mission. The real time, actionable information derived from computer adaptive assessments personalizes the learning experience for all students." Lawler added, "We applaud Chairman Kline for his leadership on H.R. 3989 and for accelerating the deployment of this critical technology in schools across the nation."
On Tuesday, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce approved H.R. 3989 by a vote of 23-16. The bill will now proceed to the full House of Representatives for consideration.
