BOSTON, Dec. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Just in time for all those New Year's resolutions, Boston Sports Clubs (BSC) is teaming up with the Gronkowski Family to bring a new form of fitness to the Boston area. Launching January 2nd, 2017, at the BSC Wellington Circle location in Medford, the Gronk Fitness Program is designed by Gronk & Co. to help people stay strong, toned, healthy, fit, and focused while committed to their long term goals.
The Gronk Fitness Program, available exclusively at Boston Sports Clubs, introduces "Practical Sports Interval Training" – a system created by the Gronks and inspired by the proven techniques of NFL trainers. The system combines aerobic and strength training with a supportive team atmosphere to deliver a challenging, inspirational and exciting complete body athletic experience. The program is designed to increase the performance and extend the athletic life of the everyday athlete – or anyone looking to get in the best shape of their life and maintain it over the long haul.
"We wanted to design a program that not only helps athletes burn calories while improving strength, agility and endurance, but also inspires them to build their best self, in and out of the gym," says Dan Gronkowski. "And in true Gronkowski fashion," he adds, "it's going to be a ton of challenging fun."
Four workout classes make up the Gronk Fitness Program. The classes take place in a made-to-order "Gronk Zone" tailored specifically for the program, where athletes are encouraged to immediately "get into the zone" both mentally and physically once they step on to the blue turf. The Zone comes equipped with a brand new rig, sleds, kettle bells, battle ropes, plyo boxes, foam rollers, water rowers etc.
As Rob Gronkowski explained: "My workouts have changed so much over the last few years. It's not just weight training anymore. In order to stay healthy, recover quickly, and continue building strength and agility, I've combined different types of low impact, sports circuit exercises to maximize and expand my abilities. This is what we're bringing to BSC - first rate, professional and effective training practices, designed to help map out a journey to facilitate the athlete in reaching the goal of being the best you there is."
"We are excited to introduce the Gronk Zone and the Gronk Fitness Program to Boston Sports Clubs, which have been serving the Greater Boston community for over 25 years," says Patrick Walsh, CEO of Boston Sports Clubs and Town Sports International Holdings, Inc., the parent company that owns and operates BSC. "As a native of the great city of Boston and a long time Boston sports and Gronk fan, it's a special privilege to offer this unique program to my hometown. We are honored to partner with the Gronk family and one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, Rob Gronkowski."
The new Gronk Zone encompasses 1,500 sq ft. and will be open to all members when the program is not in session. "We've noticed a shift in what our members are looking for in a gym - years ago there was a focus on machines and treadmills and now many people have zeroed in on functional and athletic training," adds Walsh. "Rob, Dan and his family have worked with the BSC team to ensure the equipment in the Zone speaks to our members' needs and wants. We remain committed and determined to keep up with the fitness trends and ensure that Boston Sports Clubs remains the go-to destination for fitness regardless of the various needs of all our members."
Starting in January, the Gronk Fitness program will be available exclusively at the BSC in Wellington Circle for $179 for an 8-pack of classes, $99 for a 4-pack and $32 for a single class. The plan is to expand the program to other BSC locations within the year and offer its benefits to even more BSC members.
