TUKWILA, Wash., Dec. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Genoa, a QoL Healthcare Company's CEO, John Figueroa, announced a series of leadership and organizational changes in a message to employees.
"As the company has grown, so have the complexities of leading this business. We are a world class organization with an unparalleled leadership team. To continue our path of remarkable growth and success, there are a few very important areas that I felt we needed to expand upon," said Figueroa.
The first area of expanded leadership is the addition of a corporate General Counsel. Alexander (Aly) Kayne joins Genoa as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Kayne comes to Genoa having most recently served as General Counsel for Omnicare, where he developed the company's legal department and played a key role in helping successfully resolve several complex legacy legal matters.
Kayne was a Partner with Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP in its New York Litigation Department prior to joining Omnicare. He has represented companies from a variety of industries, including healthcare, banking, insurance, and energy, and his practice focused on complex commercial and securities cases in federal and state courts including cases involving federal and governmental regulatory agencies.
Figueroa's second announcement is the addition of Michael Walters as Senior Vice President, Human Resources. Walters has nearly 20 years of HR leadership experience, most recently leading HR for Verathon Medical, a Roper Technologies company. In this capacity, he held responsibility for all HR functions for their global work force located in North America, Europe, Asia, Middle East, and Latin America. Prior to his tenure with Verathon, Michael provided HR leadership in various capacities for Microsoft and the Nielsen Company. He is also an instructor of Human Resources Management at the University of Washington.
Figueroa also announced the promotion of Mark Peterson, Genoa's Executive Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development, to the role of Chief Commercial Officer, which will include responsibility for payor relationship strategies. Peterson has led the company's growth and strategy for 13 years, and his areas of responsibility now include Sales, Marketing, Government Affairs, Community Development, Strategy and Payor Relations. In addition, Genoa will be adding a Senior Vice President, Payor Relations.
Finally, Ryan Niemeyer is being promoted to the role of Vice President – Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. Niemeyer joined Genoa in 2005 as Controller when there were only 8 pharmacies. Prior to joining the company, he spent 6 years in public accounting.
Throughout the years Niemeyer has been responsible for Genoa's accounting and treasury functions. In his new role he will be responsible for overseeing all corporate accounting, and will continue to be a key executive within the Finance group providing useful information to inform business decisions and drive results.
In 2015, Genoa acquired three companies, opened 46 new pharmacies, and added over 700 new employees. "I'm extremely proud of what we have accomplished in 2015 and excited to kick off 2016 with important strategic additions to our team and improved and expanded resources throughout the company to ensure our ongoing success," said Figueroa.
