HOUSTON, March 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA, a leader in U.S. retail energy, announced today that it has renewed its multi-year contract to power Citizens Bank Park. The 43,651-seat park is part of the Philadelphia Sports Complex and home of the Philadelphia Phillies.
The retail electricity supplier has served the Major League Baseball team through a multi-year contract since 2011. It has maintained a strong relationship with the Phillies based on its ability to meet a number of specific price and product requirements for the ballpark.
"Since beginning work with the Phillies in 2011, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources has exceeded our expectations," said Dave Buck, Phillies Senior Vice President, Marketing and Advertising Sales. "We've chosen to continue our relationship with them because they recognize our business drivers and unique consumption patterns. They also understand our business goals and objectives, which is clearly a win-win for any organization."
Sam Henry, President and CEO of GDF SUEZ Energy Resources, said, "We're honored to serve the Phillies and its landmark venue, Citizens Bank Park, in building innovative models for procuring power. This agreement reflects our willingness and ability to make sure customers get exactly what they need out of their energy strategy, and we're deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue to support the team in this regard."
The Phillies are among the top purchasers of green power in Philadelphia. They were the first Major League Baseball team to join the Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Partnership Program, which motivates organizations across the world to minimize their environmental impact through procurement programs that support renewable energy sources. About the Phillies Red Goes Green Program
In April 2008, the Philadelphia Phillies launched the Red Goes Green Program at Citizens Bank Park in an effort to lead the way in the clean energy movement at professional sports venues. In launching the initiative, the Phillies became the first Major League Baseball team to join the EPA's Green Power Partnership Program, a voluntary program that encourages organizations to buy green power as a way to reduce the environmental impacts associated with purchased electricity use. Since that time, the Phillies have made tremendous efforts toward creating a cleaner environment. For more information on these many initiatives, please visit www.phillies.com/redgoesgeen.
