TEL AVIV, Israel, June 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Galmed Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (NASDAQ: GLMD) ("Galmed" or the "Company"), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of the liver targeted SCD1 modulator Aramchol™, a once-daily, oral therapy for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, or NASH, today announced that it intends to offer and sell, subject to market and other conditions, ordinary shares in an underwritten public offering to raise aggregate proceeds of approximately $75,000,000. In addition, Galmed intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 15% of the ordinary shares sold in the offering, at the public offering price, less the underwriting discounts and commissions. There can be no assurance as to whether or when the offering may be completed, or as to the actual size or terms of the offering. All of the ordinary shares in the offering are being sold by Galmed. Galmed intends to use the net proceeds from the offering for (i) continued development of Aramchol, (ii) development of new programs, (iii) business development activities, and (iv) general corporate purposes.
