Free Online Tools Help California Working Families File Taxes, Earn Cash Back from New CalEITC
Hundreds of Millions of Dollars Now Available for Working Families and Individuals
SACRAMENTO, March 17, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CalEITC4Me, a public-private campaign to get the word out to more than 600,000 eligible Californians about the new State earned income tax credit (CalEITC) program, has introduced online tools that make it easy for working families and individuals claim their Federal and State EITC.
"Thanks to our committed partners working in communities throughout the State, hundreds of thousands of Californians have already claimed their first-ever CalEITC," said Joseph N. Sanberg, CalEITC Chair. "Last year, $1.8 billion in potentially life-changing federal EITC refunds went unclaimed by eligible working Californians. This year, we don't want a single dollar left on the table."
Those who earned up to $54,000 in 2015 can calculate their tax credit refund and file tax returns for free with user-friendly, multilingual online tools created and donated by Intuit, Inc., a partner in of the CalEITC4Me campaign, including:
Eligibility Calculator- Families and individuals can find out if they are eligible and how much their EITC credit could be at http://caleitc4me.org/earn-it/.
Free Tax Prep Finder – By entering city, zip code or address eligible families and individuals can find convenient free tax prep locations in their neighborhoods. For appointments, visit http://caleitc4me.org/get-it/.
The more than 600,000 California residents eligible for California EITC will receive an average of $900 cash back at tax time.
