Free Coupon Application, SmartSource Xpress® Now Available on Android Devices
NEW YORK, Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- News America Marketing, the premier publisher of coupons in the U.S. and Canada, producing over 165 billion coupons annually1, today announced their popular free coupon application, SmartSource Xpress (SSX), is now available for use on Android devices in addition to iPhone® and iPad®.
SmartSource Xpress has proven popular for iPhone and iPad users, with almost two million coupons digitally clipped in the year since its launch, delivering savings from a wide range of popular household names including many of the same brands found in the SmartSource Magazine Sunday coupon insert.
SmartSource Xpress allows users access to a virtual SmartSource Magazine with unique coupons and savings opportunities directly on their mobile device. The coupons are "clipped" by tapping the Android's screen, and then sent directly to the consumer's shopper loyalty card to be automatically redeemed at checkout using Direct2Card® (D2C®) technology. The growing D2C retailer network is currently composed of over 3,700 stores across the country. The app, which can be downloaded to Android devices for free from Google Play®, is highly rated and hailed by users for its ease of use.
"Digital couponing provides significant savings opportunities for our shoppers," said Marty Garofalo, EVP News America Marketing. "We are excited to offer the convenience of digital savings to the expanded network of tech-savvy Android users."
SmartSource Xpress for the Android will have the same features as the iOS version, offering video content, recipes, and free sampling opportunities in an easy-to-view format. The app links to social platforms allowing shoppers to instantly share the app with friends and family through Facebook and Twitter, and also allows shoppers to set up reminders about the coupons saved to their shopper loyalty card when they get close to their preferred stores.
While free-standing inserts are still a leading coupon distribution vehicle, and a priority to both consumers and News America Marketing, digital couponing has been on the rise in recent years, with more and more retailers accepting paperless or digital coupons. Android growth has similarly been on the rise, with 1 billion devices activated2, making the extension of SmartSource Xpress to Android a logical step.
"Smartphones have become essential to many people's everyday lives," said Henri Lellouche, SVP, SmartSource Digital. "The ability to access savings on-the-go will allow both new coupon lovers and savings experts to get unbeatable savings in the simplest, most efficient way possible, literally in the palm of their hand."
News America Marketing is committed to providing shoppers with savings wherever it's most convenient for them, whether digitally, through SmartSource Xpress, through its traditional weekly coupon inserts, SmartSource Magazine, in-store savings or printable or D2C coupons online at SmartSource.com.
