FRC Action Launches Ad Campaign Opposing Efforts to Force Open Homosexuality on the Military
Ad Asks, "What Do Kagan, Levin and Pelosi Have in Common?"
WASHINGTON, May 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- FRC Action, the lobbying arm of the Family Research Council, has placed an advertisement in today's issue of Politico asking, "What Do Kagan, Levin and Pelosi have in common? Using the military to advance their radical social agenda."
During a 1 p.m. EDT news conference call scheduled for later today, FRC Action President Tony Perkins will be joined by military veterans to discuss the launch of this ad campaign and will also release new national polling on homosexuals in the military. The ad addresses how then-Dean of Harvard Law School Elena Kagan refused to cooperate with military recruiters because she said the military's policy of prohibiting open homosexuality was "repugnant."
"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin have also made clear that they know better than our nation's military leaders about what's best for our troops," the ad continues. "They have announced plans to ignore military leaders and force open homosexuality on the military by amending the Defense Authorization bill." It points out that both Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Mike Mullen have asked Congress to wait for the military to complete its review of overturning 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' before trying to change the law. But Senator Levin and Speaker Pelosi show no intention of waiting.
The advertisement concludes by calling on Americans to call their members of Congress to oppose these plans to overturn the law and join over 50,000 Americans who have signed the FRC Action's petition to protect the military.
