SAN DIEGO, March 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- FortuneBuilders, the nation's leading real estate investing education and business development company, hosted the third camp of their national financial literacy campaign in San Francisco. FortuneBuilders Gives, the organization's philanthropic arm, provided scholarships for teen relatives of members of the company's real estate education program. The Future FortuneBuilders camp, which took place March 12-13, aimed to educate the high school students of San Francisco on practical life and financial skills seldom taught in schools, as a part of their teen national financial literacy campaign.
"We had an extraordinary group of students attend our camp this past weekend in San Francisco," said Than Merrill, CEO of FortuneBuilders. "Each event is that much more inspiring, as you get to see the kids come out of the event ready to overcome whatever obstacles they may have, excited about the future."
The San Francisco event was the latest in a series of two-day boot camp events across the nation, which has so far taught hundreds of youth financial education across the nation, with successful events in both Atlanta and Houston. More than 50 local students, ages 13 to 17 attended the San Francisco event to learn the value of credit, time management and habits of successful people. FortuneBuilders Gives awards scholarships for students nominated by their teachers, parents and leaders throughout the nation.
"My favorite part of every event is the moment when I see the students finally get it – when their eyes light up because they realize what is possible," said JP Servideo, FFB speaker and co-founder. "If the students of San Francisco are our next generation entrepreneurs, I am confident in the future."
Having lived through one of the worst economic recessions in history, more than two-thirds of recent high school graduates believe they needed some kind of financial management course in high school, according to a recent study. FFB is striving to fill that need by providing these courses and skills to ensure that the country's youth will make educated financial decisions and be better prepared for futures of success.
Future FortuneBuilders empowers the nation's youth with the essential skills needed to succeed, aiming to develop the next generation's entrepreneurs. Its goal is to lead youth to realizing their financial potential and help them develop life-long skills to establish a secure financial foundation. A number of additional FFB camps are scheduled to be hosted around the nation throughout the year, with the next being in Washington DC in April.
