Fortify Software and WhiteHat Veteran Application Security Experts Join Contrast Security
PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Contrast Security, a pioneer in application security solutions, today announced the addition of John M. Jack, former CEO of Fortify Software (now HP) and Brian Chess, founder and CTO of Fortify and currently SVP of infrastructure and security at a publicly traded company, as company advisors. The company has also brought on Mark Hodgson, a veteran of WhiteHat Security, as vice president of marketing.
John and Brian will use their practical experience gleaned from working for and advising companies like HP, Sybase, CipherCloud, AlienVault and ClearSlide to deliver product and go-to-market counsel to the Contrast Security team. John, who has been at the helm of several high-profile public offerings and acquisitions, grew Fortify into a security titan before its sale to HP. He currently sits on the boards of some of the most forward-thinking companies in Silicon Valley. Leveraging proven success building young software companies, Brian helped research then implement ground-breaking solutions to identify security-relevant defects at Fortify.
John and Brian are excited by Contrast Security's vision and delivery of offering precise and continuous application security that's faster, more accurate and easier to use than alternatives on the market.
"Contrast has seized the opportunity to take the lessons learned from the first forays into SAST (static code scanning) and DAST (dynamic scanning) that meet the needs of modern Agile and cloud-based applications. So, enterprises can quickly use the information and feedback they're getting to create secure code in real-time," said John M. Jack. "As technology evolves, so must security and as a result, I'm delighted to serve as an advisor for a company that is taking such an agile approach towards solving some of the largest challenges security professionals face."
"One thing we've seen in the industry is that many enterprises have gotten into the habit of throwing security out the window once they start coding, or have very little discussion of security mechanisms, which is scary," said Brian Chess. "Contrast's continuous security approach eliminates the need to trade off development speed and security – enterprises can now have both."
With 26 years of experience in marketing technical products and services to consumers and corporations, Mark will leverage lessons learned from his tenure with companies such as WhiteHat Security, Symantec and BigFix. In his role as Contrast Security's vice president of marketing, Mark will spearhead Contrast's brand management and demand generation.
"The application security market is ripe for re-invention," said Mark Hodgson. "Contrast is invigorating this market with solutions that have a real and meaningful impact on the lives of application security professionals and the security of the organizations they are currently struggling to protect."
