BOSTON, July 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Following his much-publicized departure from Ford Motor Company, where he led the iconic brand's social media strategy for 6 years, Scott Monty has landed a new role at SHIFT Communications as the Executive Vice President of Strategy. After crafting a highly successful, creative and engaged approach to social media in his previous role, at SHIFT Monty will contribute thought leadership while developing new agency services, offering strategic counsel to current clients, publicly representing SHIFT at events, and widening the firm's partnership opportunities.
"Whenever anyone is asked to list the corporations 'getting it right' in social media, Ford is invariably one of the first mentioned. Under Scott's leadership, Ford became known as an authentic, engaged and innovative brand amongst consumers and media alike. Accordingly, everyone in the media and social communities expected his next gig to be at another behemoth," said SHIFT CEO Todd Defren. "What's important to understand about Scott, however, is that he is happiest when he's building something. At SHIFT, Scott will have the chance to make a big, positive impact both at the firm and, for a wide swath of our clients. We could not be more delighted to welcome him to our adventure."
"SHIFT is an agency that I have followed and respected for almost a decade. The Agency's values and entrepreneurial spirit all align with my individual values and goals, and I'm excited at the chance to build an even stronger connection between the practices of communications and marketing for client strategy," said Monty. "I'm ready to help make an impact at SHIFT and contribute to the Agency's growth."
Prior to joining SHIFT Communications, Monty served as Global Digital & Multimedia Communications Manager at Ford Motor Company where he was the face of all social media marketing and brand building strategy, including blogger relations, marketing support, internal communications and more. He was recently named as an Advisor to RPM Ventures in Ann Arbor and began a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the American Marketing Association. He also continues to serve on the Board of Trustees and Digital Advisory Committee for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Forbes previously named Monty one of the top 10 influencers in Social Media.
"We're honored and delighted that Scott has accepted a role at SHIFT," said co-founder Jim Joyal. "Few individuals have as much expertise, authority, and trust among the Fortune 500 as Scott does, and we want to share that magic with our clients and across the industry."
