Former Department of Commerce Trade Enforcement Official Joins Kelley Drye & Warren LLP
WASHINGTON, Jan. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is pleased to announce that Christian B. Marsh has joined the firm as Executive Director of Georgetown Economic Services (GES), an economic consulting subsidiary of Kelley Drye. Mr. Marsh brings nearly three decades of experience in international trade in the public and private sectors. He previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Antidumping & Countervailing Duty (AD/CVD) Operations at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
"Chris is one of the most respected trade officials in Washington," said Kathleen W. Cannon, managing partner of Kelley Drye's Washington, D.C. office. "He is an outstanding accountant with in-depth knowledge of the trade area in general and of the Commerce Department in particular. We are thrilled to have him join us."
At Commerce, Mr. Marsh served as head of the International Trade Administration unit responsible for enforcing U.S. trade laws. Among his significant accomplishments, he advised Congressional members and their staffs in drafting provisions of the American Trade Enforcement Effectiveness Act and the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act. Mr. Marsh received the Departmental Gold Medal for leading a team in drafting complex bipartisan legislation. He was also a Presidential Rank Award nominee, the highest award given to federal government senior executives for "sustained extraordinary achievement." Prior to joining Commerce, Mr. Marsh provided complex accounting and litigation support in international trade matters as principal in a leading consultant firm.
As Executive Director of GES, Mr. Marsh will be well supported by a strong group of analysts. The GES team includes former senior analysts from across key federal trade agencies, giving them an insider's view on agency practices and trends that will shape client success in the coming years. GES delivers sophisticated economic analysis to organizations engaged in international trade; manufacturers challenged by import competition; and companies facing tough antitrust, environmental and commercial litigation matters. GES focuses on issues that complement several of Kelley Drye's areas of focus and works with other law firms and organizations as well, helping to identify issues, shape technical and public policy positions, and strengthen their litigation cases or competitive positions.
"Kelley Drye and GES provide the perfect platform to leverage my experience and knowledge in service of the firm and its clients," said Mr. Marsh. "GES is uniquely placed to give Kelley Drye an edge among competitors and I look forward to enhancing its services. I have tremendous respect for Kelley Drye's attorneys and advisors and I am excited to join the team."
