DALLAS, Oct. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Author and formative assessment expert, Dylan Wiliam, Ph.D., will be the keynote speaker at the Texas Instruments (TI) (NASDAQ: TXN) 2016 Teachers Teaching with Technology™ (T3™) International Conference. Wiliam will reveal his methods for improving formative assessment and provide educators with proven strategies for gaining insight into student understanding.
In a varied career, Wiliam has taught in urban public schools, directed a large-scale testing program, served a number of roles in university administration and directed a research program focused on helping teachers develop their use of assessment in support of learning. He was the co-author of a major review of the research evidence on formative assessment and has subsequently worked with numerous groups of teachers in developing formative assessment practices.
"Assessment provides a bridge between teaching and learning, and having models for formative assessment in math and science classrooms will enrich the learning process," said Wiliam. "The sooner teachers can tap into what students are thinking, the more quickly teachers can adjust how they are teaching to increase student understanding."
In addition to the keynote, Wiliam will also present sessions on questioning strategies and school leadership that promotes teacher learning.
The T3 professional development conference, February 26-28, 2016, in Orlando, Florida, is for middle grades to university educators and administrators interested in using Texas Instruments educational technology to enhance mathematics and science teaching. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with teachers from around the world, learn from experienced educators and participate in more than 300 hands-on, interactive sessions addressing today's shifting educational landscape.
"We're honored Dylan Wiliam, an enthusiastic advocate for improving formative assessment, is joining the conversation at the T3 conference as we bring the right minds together for a rich discussion on how to maximize student achievement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics," said Peter Balyta, Ph.D., (@pbalyta), president of TI Education Technology. "Teachers who attend our conference report enthusiastically that the inventive ideas and inspired strategies they take back to their schools revitalize and reenergize their classroom teaching."
