Forbes Ranks Babson MBA One of the Top Three in Massachusetts, Among Nation's Best for Return on Investment
WELLESLEY, Mass., Aug. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In its biennial ranking of Best U.S. Business Schools, Forbes ranks the Babson College MBA program #3 in Massachusetts, following only Harvard and MIT, and #44 nationally.
Forbes ranking of MBA programs focuses on the return on investment that graduates receive attending business school. According to ranking data, the Babson MBA 2010 salary is $112,000, up from the Pre-MBA salary of $53,000. The total 5-year MBA gain is $57,000. Graduates can expect a payback on their investment in 3.7 years.
"We are exceptionally proud of our graduates' success in this competitive global market and gratified that the business-building skills and entrepreneurial mindset learned here at Babson are advancing their careers," commented Raghu Tadepalli, Dean of Babson's F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business. "It's evident that our graduates are identifying and capitalizing on opportunities and creating both economic and social value across a broad spectrum of global enterprise, from large corporations and family businesses to start-ups and non-profits."
According to Forbes, "Our seventh biennial ranking of business schools is based on the return on investment achieved by the graduates from the class of 2006. We surveyed 16,000 alumni at more than 100 schools and heard back from 30% of those grads. We compared their earnings in their first five years out of business school to their opportunity cost (two years of forgone compensation, tuition and required fees) to arrive at a '5-year M.B.A. Gain.'" Building upon the success of its MBA program, this fall Babson is introducing its new single MBA curriculum with four different delivery methods, two-year, one-year, evening, and Fast Track, a blended virtual and online program. All four programs share a curriculum based on Babson's proven combination of deep functional business knowledge and its methodology of Entrepreneurial Thought and Action®.
Hallmarks of the Babson's new MBA curriculum:
- Signature Learning Experiences that reinforce and expand classroom learning through hands-on activities that require students to put theories into practice. Learning by doing has always been a hallmark of a Babson MBA education but in today's world, it's more important than ever for graduates to be able to hit the ground running. Babson students learn to transform instruction into instinct, so they can make real-world decisions in real time that have a real impact.
- Restructured course schedules that provide students with more time for class preparation, co-curricular activities, career exploration, and networking. As a living/learning laboratory, Babson has always promoted the value of blending classroom and non-classroom activities. The new curriculum helps students create a better balance in this regard.
- Two new core courses:
-- Managing at the Crossroads: International Economics, Business, and Government, which focuses on the critical role that the government and institutions play in business; and
-- Global Connections Through Technology, which focuses on the role of technology and metrics in business.
- The opportunity to begin electives early in the program to allow students to hone in on career requirements, helping them to select and land the most optimal internship opportunities.
- Entrepreneurial Thought and Action® and the principles of Social, Environment, Economic Responsibility and Sustainability are built into the content and pedagogical approach of several core courses. Unlike most business schools that teach entrepreneurship as a discrete, siloed subject, Babson incorporates Entrepreneurial Thought and Action across disciplines in the pursuit of both economic and social value. Babson was the first business school to sign on to the Principles for Responsible Management Education, an international initiative to infuse values of sustainability and corporate citizenship into the fabric of business education.
- Constant renewal to remain relevant: The entire MBA experience has a review date of June 2013.
