Forbes Names Anytime Fitness One Of "America's Most Promising Companies"
World's Fastest-Growing Fitness Club Expects to Quadruple in Size within Six Years
More than 2,000 clubs, serving nearly 2,000,000 members, now open in 14 Countries
HASTINGS, Minn., Feb. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Anytime Fitness has been named one of "America's Most Promising Companies" by Forbes magazine. The world's largest co-ed fitness franchise, with nearly 2,100 locations in more than a dozen countries, is ranked #14 on the "Most Promising Companies" list in the February 11th issue of Forbes. The rankings are based on growth (both in sales and hiring), quality of management team and investors, margins, market size and key partnerships.
"We're honored that such a well-respected periodical as Forbes counts us among America's Most Promising Companies," said Chuck Runyon, CEO and Co-founder of Anytime Fitness. "The recognition speaks to the passion and hard work of our franchisees, the dedicated support of our corporate staffers, and the loyalty of our members who place a high value on convenient and affordable fitness options."

The "Most Promising Companies" accolade is just the latest in an impressive string of recent honors and milestones for Anytime Fitness. Late last year, the franchise opened it 2,000th club and was ranked #6 on Entrepreneur magazine's prestigious "Franchise 500" list, leaping past franchising giants like McDonald's, Denny's and Pizza Hut.
"We've opened at least 250 clubs in each of the last five years, despite a challenging global economy, and I don't see our growth rate slowing down," said Gerry Thomas, CFO of Anytime Fitness. "In fact, six years from now, I expect that we will have at least 4,000 clubs in the U.S. and another 4,000 clubs worldwide, essentially quadrupling the number of clubs we have today."
Newer Anytime Fitness clubs feature group exercise rooms which allow members to choose from dozens of free video classes 24 hours a day. Members also receive free access to "Anytime Health," a comprehensive online support system featuring meal planners, activity trackers, instructional exercise videos, 24-hour advice from certified personal trainers, and more.
"It's a business model that's been successful in a diverse set of communities and countries because we're focused on meeting the needs of our members and their busy lifestyles," said Dave Mortensen, President and Co-founder of Anytime Fitness. "We're constantly evolving and adding new services and value for our members, and every day we strive to get better."
