SAN DIEGO, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- DB Networks, an innovator of intelligent continuous monitoring, today announced a new webinar titled, "Continuous Monitoring: Insights into APT and your Hidden Attack Surface." The webinar was developed to address the security concerns surrounding the techniques used in the recent devastating breach at Anthem. The Anthem breach focused attention on one of the worst nightmares for network security staffs – Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs).

The Anthem breach was the largest cyber attack ever perpetrated against a healthcare organization and one of the largest breaches in corporate history. An estimated 80 million consumer records were compromised. Those records included personally identifiable information (PII) including names, birthdays, Social Security numbers and addresses. For identity thieves, it's a treasure trove more valuable than even credit card or bank account numbers.
"APTs operate under-the-radar over a long period of time," explained Brett Helm, CEO of DB Networks. "That's what makes them so worrisome. With traditional tools, security managers can never really be absolutely certain that all components of the APT were identified and removed. The lingering fear that an APT remains ongoing on your systems and throughout your networks definitely keeps security staffs up at night."
The criminals behind the Anthem APT worked for many months to carry out their theft and might still be active today had an individual not happen to notice some unusual database activity. Posing as database administrators, the attackers hid in plain sight, their actions not raising any suspicion from the company's security systems.
Webinar attendees will learn:
- How attackers are able to operate undetected for an average of 229 days
- Steps you can take to significantly reduce your core network security risks
- How intelligent continuous monitoring "shines a light" on the hidden attack surface
The webinar will take place Thursday, March 5, 2015, at 11:00 am Pacific /2:00 pm Eastern.
