fitlosophy is Honored With American Heart Association's Outstanding Achievement Award
fitlosophy receives AHA's Appreciation Award for Outstanding Achievement for its Innovative BLOG YOUR HEART OUT Campaign
COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- fitlosophy, inc., the Orange County, California-based creators of fitbook, a line of revolutionary 12-week fitness and nutrition journals, is honored to announce it has been awarded the American Heart Association's 2009-2010 Appreciation Award for Outstanding Achievement for their help in furthering objectives in the area of Cardiovascular Education and Community Programs.
fitlosophy supported the American Heart Association by initiating a 12-week BLOG YOUR HEART OUT campaign to create awareness and to encourage people to SPEAK UP against heart disease. This silent-killer is the #1 cause of death among women (and men), killing about 1 woman every minute, or approximately 450,000 women each year.
fitlosophy selected five bloggers to SPEAK UP and share their personal stories in an effort to raise awareness using the viral power of social media methods such as blogs, Twitter, and Facebook. The BLOG YOUR HEART OUT bloggers used fitbooks to track their progress through the American Heart Association's BetterU program - a free online 12-week nutrition and fitness makeover. Readers followed these writers as they blogged their way through the program while driving women to join the Go Red Movement online at GoRedForWomen.org.
"Spreading our messaging on heart disease prevention in women through this social media effort was not only fun, but impactful," said Nicolla Ross, Senior Director of Community Health at American Heart Association. The 12 week campaign made well over 10,000 impressions through the use of social media. "Thank you fitlosophy for extending our messaging throughout your social media networks and helping us save lives one heart at a time in the process," said Ross.
Due to the success of the campaign, fitlosophy is working with the American Heart Association to develop additional programs including a 2011 BLOG YOUR HEART OUT campaign and a new program designed to promote children's health.
"Our hearts are bursting with love and gratitude to the American Heart Association for recognizing fitlosophy with this Outstanding Achievement Award. Our company is proud to team up with organizations like the AHA to promote health and wellness issues that impact our nation and our customers," said Angela Manzanares, founder of fitlosophy, inc.
fitlosophy, inc. is continuing its commitment to sharing its time, talent, and financial resources with the launch of its fitgiving initiative this month. "The fitgiving program is our way of demonstrating to our partners and customers our sincere ongoing commitment to giving back to great organizations that support fitlosophy's motto to live life fit," said Manzanares.
