Fishidy Announces Major Acquisitions to Further Deliver More Value to Everyday Anglers
Fishidy Acquires Competitive App and Further Leverages Ryple Technology to Create a More Powerful Platform for Fishing Enthusiasts
MADISON, Wis., June 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As the peak fishing season gets underway across much of the U.S., Fishidy is excited to announce two new major additions to its location-based, social networking platform for anglers.
Fishidy has acquired FishingCrew, formally FishingScout, (www.fishing-crew.com) a competitor in the app market for real-time sharing of fishing experiences, catch locations, conditions and other data points critical to fishing success. With the acquisition, Fishidy gains a significant amount of new members in the South and especially the state of Texas, a major hotbed for fishing activity relative to the rest of the country.
In addition to a newly activated user base, Fishidy will gain hundreds of thousands of new publicly marked spot and catch locations on its maps. For the meantime, both the Fishidy app and the FishingCrew app will continue to operate as separate entities until the full migration of information is complete on the Fishidy platform. Interestingly, this move for Fishidy expands its presence even further into the outdoors market by also acquiring FishingCrew's closely related hunting app and online community, HuntingScout.
"We are excited about joining the Fishidy team and about the new opportunities this will create for both communities," says Gabe Mitchell, Founder, FishingCrew.
Second, in an effort to deliver more powerful tools for fly fishing and steam angling members of its community, Fishidy has acquired Ryple (www.ryple.com) and their sophisticated algorithms. Fishidy plans to leverage the technology in new and even more exciting ways than before. Basic Fishidy members will have access to the current day's hatch forecast and fishing activity level for specific streams, while premium subscribers unlock access to full 7-day forecasts on all 8,000+ streams across the U.S.
"The stream fishing market is critical for us. Stream angling is dominant in certain parts of the country and stream anglers represent some of the best fishing conservationists on the planet. This acquisition will ensure we serve them better. Fishidy is not just about maps, stream anglers need hatch information and flow information and now we can deliver it in many different ways. Whatever helps anglers have more success on the water, we will strive to provide it," says Brian Jensen, Fishidy CEO.
