First iPad-only Magazine Sideways Surveys Readers, Garners 20 Percent Response Rate & 93 Percent Completion Rate
CLEVELAND, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Sideways, the first magazine exclusively designed and written for the iPad, recently surveyed readers as part of the magazine's July issue (June 2010 was the debut issue) and garnered an impressive 20 percent response rate with 93 percent completion rate. Sideways takes full advantage of the iPad's capabilities to present stories that are immersive and engaging in ways that print alone is not.
Many of the survey responses were in line with the typical early adopter demographic. Results include the following:
- 80.8% of responders were male.
- 50.2% of responders hold an advanced degree.
- The average age of responders was 47.
- 24.4% of those who purchased the Sideways app, updated the app.
- 93.6% of those updaters took the survey.
- Of the readers who began the survey, 93% completed it.
- The lead interests of responders were technology, the iPad, iPod and books while they were least interested in sports and relationships.
"These numbers show us that iPad users and on-device magazine readers are very willing to fill out surveys and provide information – in ways that they often are not online," said Eliza Wing, co-founder and president of Sideways, creator of Sideways magazine. "In terms of relationship marketing, the Sideways survey results show a real engagement and response to 'push' strategy. App publishers can use survey-like strategies – including contests and quizzes – to gain iterative knowledge about their audiences."
Additional survey results and analysis will be available in the September issue of Sideways. For more information and details on the survey, visit www.sideways.com.
