Finkelstein, managing partner of Finkelstein & Partners, LLP, one of New York State's largest personal injury law firms, is proud to announce that the firm secured a $1.7 million settlement for a client utilizing alternative dispute resolution (ADR) through mediation. The F&P legal team, comprised of attorneys George M. Levy and Elizabeth Wolff, case manager Erika Martinez, paralegal Carolyn Harvey, adjuster Kevin Hines, and calendar coordinator Maggie Bonaparte, used mediation as an alternative dispute resolution method to settle a motor vehicle case at $1.7 million for an Orange County resident.
The client, a 40 year-old single mother, was traveling eastbound on Route 17M in Goshen, NY, when her car was struck by another vehicle. The collision left the client with multiple fractures which eventually required numerous surgeries. Despite the operations, the extent of the injuries left the woman unable to perform either of her two jobs leaving her and her children in dire financial straits.
Attorney George Levy, who led the team on this case said, "We presented our client with the option of continuing to pursue her case in the Court system or trying to resolve it through mediation. After fully understanding the alternatives, our client chose to try mediation which fortunately was a good decision. By using this strategy we were able to save her the expense and stress of preparing for and going to trial. When mediation is successful our clients are able to receive their much-needed settlements faster."
"At Finkelstein & Partners, we are committed to helping our clients attain the best possible outcome for their case," said Finkelstein. "We provide them with all the information necessary to make informed decisions and stand by them every step of the way. In this case, the client's decision to utilize alternative dispute resolution through mediation resulted in a $1.7 million settlement - and it's one less case to go through the court system process. It's a good option for our clients, as well as the courts," added Finkelstein.
