Rackspace Hosting, Inc. Analyst Notes
On May 12, 2014, Rackspace Hosting, Inc. (Rackspace) reported its Q1 2014 financial results. Rackspace's Q1 2014 net revenue was $421.0 million, up 16.2% YoY. Q1 2014 adjusted EBITDA was $139.7 million, increasing 11.6% YoY. Q1 2014 net income was $25.4 million, down 6.7% YoY. The Company reported Q1 2014 cash flow from operating activities of $142 million. Graham Weston, Chairman and CEO, commented, "Our first quarter revenue growth came in as expected and we expect growth to improve in the second quarter." Weston added, "We are encouraged by qualitative factors, including the thousands of new customers we added in the quarter, including one of the largest we've ever landed." For Q2 2014, Rackspace predicts net revenue growth of 3% to 4.5% QoQ, resulting in net revenue in the range of $434 million to $440 million. International Business Machines Corp. Analyst Notes
On May 13, 2014, International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) declared that it signed a seven-year agreement with NiSource Inc. (NiSource) to continue giving a spectrum of IT services, such as the creation and management of a hybrid cloud computing environment. In accordance with the agreement, IBM will aid NiSource in applying a hybrid IT model via SoftLayer, an IBM Company, along with a private, secure cloud run via traditional infrastructure. Philip Guido, General Manager, IBM Global Technology Services, North America, commented, "NiSource is a powerful example of how companies today are turning to the cloud as a competitive lever for their business." Guido added, "Embracing the cloud not only provides a better way to integrate hybrid IT systems, it enables companies to forge new pathways to innovation and improve services by applying technologies such as analytics across their enterprise."
