FASTSIGNS® Helps Companies Solve Design Challenges and Win the First Glance with Science of 3M Visual Attention Software
CARROLLTON, Texas, June 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Through a licensing agreement with 3M, FASTSIGNS® sign and visual graphic centers are using 3MSM Visual Attention Software to help companies and organizations predict what people are likely to notice at first glance in the design of their signs and visual graphics. This software provides an in-depth report and can be used to analyze new or existing signs, vehicle graphics, marketing materials and website designs to help ensure that the design emphasizes the most important areas within the design based on where a viewer's eye is most likely to go.
"You only have a few seconds to get the attention of a viewer," explained Drue Townsend, Senior VP of Marketing of FASTSIGNS International, Inc. "The experienced graphic designers in FASTSIGNS locations worldwide can use the 3M Visual Attention Software to create designs that focus on the areas most important to the client or to help a customer designing their own graphics validate what is likely to win the first glance."
FASTSIGNS of Norman, Oklahoma used the 3M Visual Attention Software to help an optometry office attract the attention of people passing by on a busy street. After analyzing the existing monument sign and learning that surrounding buildings and cars were more noticeable than the sign, FASTSIGNS provided a new design for the optometrist to increase the likelihood of the sign being noticed as a visual priority and to help increase brand awareness for the location.
"Whether it is to determine if a message on a trade show display is in the right location to get people into the booth or to learn if the placement of a company's phone number on a vehicle is noticed quickly, there are countless ways that FASTSIGNS can use 3M Visual Attention Software to help people visually prioritize the information they want to get across at first glance," said Townsend.
While the software doesn't predict the effectiveness of a slogan or the aesthetics of a design, it provides an objective look at where the human eye is likely to land in the first few seconds of viewing, regardless of demographics. With this information, companies can help ensure their signs and visual graphics are designed as effectively as possible to communicate their key messages.
