MINNEAPOLIS, June 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The iconic Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest has partnered with fashion designer Whitney Port to whip up a modern look for the nation's premiere cooking competition. Port created the official contest apron – the ultimate combination of fashion and function – to be worn by the 100 finalists vying for the Bake-Off® Contest $1 million grand prize.

The finalists will compete in style at the contest finals this November 10 – 12, 2013 at Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Other contest sponsors include The J.M. Smucker Company, GE Appliances and Green Giant.

Pillsbury fans were given the opportunity to help inspire this year's official contest apron design. Fans pinned their favorite images to Pillsbury's Pinterest page, creating a fan-inspired mood board for Port. The end result? A winning look that combined Port's personal fashion sense with the artistic visions of Pillsbury fans from across the country.

Contest Voting Is Now Open
The 46th Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest is divided into three recipe categories with separate entry periods. Submissions and online voting for the first category closed earlier this year. However, fans are now encouraged to vote for their favorite recipes from the second contest category, "Simple Sweet and Starters," at www.BakeOff.com. Online votes will determine which category finalists will have the chance to wear the apron created by Port when competing for the $1 million grand prize later this year. "Simple Sweets and Starters" category voting began mid-month and will remain open to the public until June 27, 2013 (11:59 a.m. CST).
There is still time to enter and vote for recipes in the third and final category, "Quick Rise and Shine Breakfasts." Original recipes may be submitted online at www.BakeOff.com from July 4 – August 8, 2013 with finalist voting taking place September 12 – 26, 2013.
Contest Details
The Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest began in 1949, and the first $1 million grand prize was awarded in 1996. At the 45th Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest, held March 2012 in Orlando, Fla., Christina Verrelli of Devon, Pa., won the $1 million grand prize for her Pumpkin Ravioli with Salted Caramel Whipped Cream recipe.
