NEW YORK, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- FAIR Health has won four eHealthcare Leadership Awards for 2018, as announced on November 7 at the Healthcare Internet Conference, sponsored by Greystone.Net, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Now in its seventh consecutive year as a winner of eHealthcare Leadership Awards, FAIR Health this year received, among others, the Mark Gothberg eHealthcare Organizational Commitment Award, for which it was the sole winner in its division.
The Mark Gothberg eHealthcare Organizational Commitment Award recognizes an organization's commitment to using the internet and technology to help achieve its mission and strategic business objectives. Factors considered include financial resources and organizational focus on eHealth, as well as initiatives implemented. A national, independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing transparency to healthcare costs and health insurance information, FAIR Health won in the division of "Other Healthcare Sites" (i.e., other than sites of healthcare systems or medical practices/outpatient facilities, or sites focused on physicians/clinicians).
In addition, for its website for consumers, fairhealthconsumer.org, FAIR Health received a gold award for Best Overall Internet Site, a distinction for Best Internet Home Page and a platinum award for Best Mobile Website. Offering accurate medical and dental costs and educational resources about health insurance, FAIR Health Consumer is available free on the web in English and Spanish (fairhealthconsumidor.org) and via an English/Spanish mobile app, FH® Cost Lookup/FH CC Salud.
A total of 109 judges, experts in healthcare and digital communications, evaluated the approximately 1,000 entries for the 2018 eHealthcare Leadership Awards, according to the presenter of the awards, Plain-English Health Care.
FAIR Health has won eHealthcare Leadership Awards every year from 2012 to the present. Past awards have honored the English and Spanish versions of FAIR Health Consumer and the mobile app.
The healthcare sector has consistently recognized the importance and effectiveness of FAIR Health's consumer resources. In addition to its multiple eHealthcare Leadership Awards, FAIR Health has received accolades from the White House, AHRQ, URAC, AppPicker, Employee Benefit News, Kiplinger's Personal Finance and other sources. FAIR Health was also named a top resource for patients in Elisabeth Rosenthal's book An American Sickness: How Healthcare Became Big Business and How You Can Take It Back.
FAIR Health President Robin Gelburd stated: "It is gratifying to be recognized by the healthcare sector for our dedication to using digital technology in pursuance of our mission, and for the consumer resources we provide as part of that mission. FAIR Health is working diligently to help consumers and other stakeholders thrive within a system that is beginning to adapt to growing demands for transparency."

About FAIR Health
FAIR Health is a national, independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing transparency to healthcare costs and health insurance information through data products, consumer resources and health systems research support. FAIR Health possesses the nation's largest collection of private healthcare claims data, which includes over 26 billion claim records contributed by payors and administrators who insure or process claims for private insurance plans covering more than 150 million individuals. FAIR Health licenses its privately billed data and data products—including benchmark modules, data visualizations, custom analytics, episodes of care analytics and market indices—to commercial insurers and self-insurers, employers, providers, hospitals and healthcare systems, government agencies, researchers and others. Certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as a Qualified Entity, FAIR Health receives all of Medicare Parts A, B and D claims data for use in nationwide transparency efforts. FAIR Health can produce insightful analytic reports and data products based on combined Medicare and commercial claims data for government, providers, payors and other authorized users. FAIR Health has earned HITRUST CSF and Service Organization Controls (SOC 2) certifications by meeting the rigorous data security requirements of these standards. As a testament to the reliability and objectivity of FAIR Health data, the data have been incorporated in statutes and regulations around the country and designated as the official, neutral data source for a variety of state health programs, including workers' compensation and personal injury protection (PIP) programs. FAIR Health data serve as an official reference point in support of certain state balance billing laws that protect consumers against bills for surprise out-of-network and emergency services. FAIR Health also uses its database to power a free consumer website available in English and Spanish and an English/Spanish mobile app, which enable consumers to estimate and plan their healthcare expenditures and offer a rich educational platform on health insurance. The website has been honored by the White House Summit on Smart Disclosure, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), URAC, the eHealthcare Leadership Awards, appPicker, Employee Benefit News and Kiplinger's Personal Finance.
