BOSTON, March 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ernst & Young LLP announced the appointment of Jane Steinmetz as its Boston Office Managing Principal and the New England Markets Leader to begin on June 1, 2017.
Steinmetz, who recently led the firm's New England financial services practice and national indirect tax practice for the financial services industry, will now be responsible for the overall client service and internal management at one of the region's largest professional services organizations. The Boston area offices are home to over 2,075 assurance, tax, transaction and consulting professionals.
"I am honored to lead this dynamic group of high performing individuals," said Steinmetz. "Our professionals deliver high quality services to many of the area's largest companies, mid-market firms and entrepreneurial and innovative start-ups."
In this role, Steinmetz will bring over 20 years of experience to guide strategic, client service and operational recommendations. She will be responsible for market growth, the day to day operations and management of the Boston Office across all services lines, and furthering strong relationships with community, government and business leaders. Steinmetz, a seasoned professional, will also continue to serve multi-national clients.
"Boston is an incredible place to work and live and I am grateful to have the opportunity to be the office managing principal for one of the area's 'Big Four,'" said Steinmetz. "I am excited to support the existing strong sense of community in the Boston office as well as maintain EY's position as a preeminent leader in New England."
Rich Jeanneret, Vice Chair and Northeast Region Managing Partner of Ernst & Young LLP, who appointed Steinmetz as the new Boston Office Managing Principal, said: "It is with great excitement that we welcome Jane to the Northeast region's leadership team. As the first woman to lead a Boston area-Big Four practice, we are looking forward to her continued positive impact on our people and the market in this new role."
Steinmetz will resume the role that was once held by George Neble, who will be retiring. George led the Boston office for over five years. During his tenure, the New England practice had tremendous presence in the market and brand in the community.
"I am proud to transition the role over to Jane. She is strongly embedded in the firm's culture and is passionate about delivering exceptional client service," said Neble.
Steinmetz is currently a trustee and executive committee member of the Massachusetts Taxpayer Foundation, board member of the New England Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors, and serves on the Boston Club corporate advisory board. She is also a member of the Connecticut and Massachusetts bar associations.
