SAN DIEGO, Dec. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, November 24, Southern California Soil & Testing, Inc. legally changed its name to SCST, Inc. This comes as no surprise after rebranding the firm last December and the continued growth outside the Southern California market.
"The reasons for changing our name should be obvious as we continue to expand our operations beyond Southern California, including winning projects in Northern and Central California, Nevada and Arizona. With our most recent acquisition, we have expanded our engineering capabilities in the Midwestern United States," said Neal Clements, Owner and CEO of SCST.
SCST continues its reach outside of Southern California with the award of a contract supporting Construction Package 2-3 for the California High-Speed Rail. CP 2-3 represents a 60 mile segment of the high-speed rail system, which includes 36 grade separations and 14M CY of embankment materials in the counties of Fresno, Tulare and Kings. Last year the California High-Speed Rail Authority awarded Arcadis US a $71.86M Construction Management (PCM) contract for CP 2-3 under which SCST will provide independent material sampling, inspection and testing ensuring compliance, quality assurance and quality control at all stages of the project. SCST will support this 3-year construction project from an office and laboratory to be located in Hanford, CA.
The need for a name change became even more apparent with the recent acquisition of a contract with the U.S Environmental Protection Agency in the Midwestern US. On September 17, SCST formally closed the acquisition of the Small Business Remedial Action Contract 2 (RAC2) based in USEPA Region 5. This contract was originally valued at $359M over a 10 year execution period. Under the RAC2, SCST provides professional environmental science and engineering services to the EPA Superfund program, executing all phases of the Superfund (CERCLA) process throughout the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. As a result of the acquisition, SCST has hired a Chicago and Milwaukee based team of professionals comprised of 18 professional engineers, geotechnical engineers, geologists and scientists who have performed services on over 70 Superfund sites generating over $250M in revenue over the past nine years. The addition of this contract and specialized professional staff will greatly enhance SCST's environmental practice and expedite SCST's strategic plan to position in the federal environmental market as an established, self-performing prime contractor.
