Event Services Professional Association (ESPA) Selects Events DC's Lachelle J. Harrison, MPA, CMP, As Convention Services Manager Of The Year
DC-native receives national recognition among leading industry peers at ESPA award ceremony in Nashville, TN
WASHINGTON, Jan. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Events DC, the official convention and sports authority, announced today that Events DC Convention Services Manager Lachelle J. Harrison, MPA, CMP, was awarded 2018 Convention Services Manager of the Year during the Event Services Professional Association (ESPA) Annual Conference in Nashville, TN.
Each year, ESPA recognizes outstanding industry leaders who have demonstrated exemplary service in the meetings and event industry. Nominated by many customers and meeting planners for this award, Harrison brings numerous years of convention services experience to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and has been involved in over 350 small to large-scale meetings, conventions, trade shows and galas.

At the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Harrison has managed and supported events such as Mass Mutual Leadership Conference, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's (AIPAC) Annual Policy Conference, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes-Norton Job Fairs, National Education Association Conference, Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference and presidential inaugural balls.
Lachelle holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and a Master's in Public Administration from the University of the District of Columbia. She completed the Event and Meeting Management Fundamentals Program from the Event Leadership Institute, Event Management Certificate Program at George Washington University School of Business and the International Association Venue Managers' (IAVM) Venue Manage School where she was awarded Student Representative alternate among industry constituents. She is also a member of the Meeting Professional International (MPI) Potomac Chapter and the Commission of Fashion Arts and Events (CFAE). Lachelle was nominated by colleagues and awarded Events DC's 2016 Teamwork of the Year recipient as well as June 2017 Employee of the Month. Harrison earned her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in November 2017 and received notification of the ESPA Convention Services Manager of the Year selection in December 2017.
