Escoffier Schools teams up with Meals on Wheels Boulder for Auguste Escoffier's 170th birthday
BOULDER, Colo., Oct. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In an exciting venture for Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts Boulder, the school will be launching a partnership with Meals on Wheels of Boulder that kicks off on October 28, 2016. The day also coincides with the city of Boulder's celebration of the father of modern cuisine, Auguste Escoffier, and his 170th birthday.
On that day, students and teachers will work together to bake and decorate dozens of cookies and donate them to the organization. The cookies will then, in turn, be included in that day's delivery of meals to the area elderly and disabled, at the Meals on Wheels Café as well as a treat for all Meals on Wheels drivers and personnel to enjoy. Due to the varied dietary restrictions of Meals on Wheels of Boulder recipients, the baked goods will meet an assortment of specialty needs including low-sugar versions for the diabetic clients. Escoffier School of Culinary Arts is excited for this new opportunity to further serve the Boulder community in addition to teaching its students about the importance of charitable service.
In the traditions and philosophies of Auguste Escoffier, the school has a long history of working with local community organizations. Other local partnerships include Operation TBI Freedom, Make-A-Wish America, We Don't Waste, Boulder Food Rescue, Community Table Kitchen, Boulder County Mental Health Partners, Tennyson Center for Children, Boulder High School Panther Club, Fairview High School Parent Organization and Second Wind Fund.
Auguste Escoffier (October 28 1846 – February 12 1935) was a renowned French chef, restaurateur and culinary writer who modernized and popularized French cuisine.
