Episcopal Retirement Homes & Alzheimer's Association Of Greater Cincinnati Will Host Special Screening of "Glen Campbell, I'll Be Me"
CINCINNATI, Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Episcopal Retirement Homes (ERH), in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Cincinnati Chapter is proud to host a special screening of the award winning documentary, "Glen Campbell—I'll Be Me," at the Cincinnati Art Museum on Friday, November 7th. The guests of the event will include notable doctors, thought leaders, social workers and supporters in the field of Alzheimer's and dementia.
In the film, legendary country singer Glen Campbell is an inspirational example of a person fighting Alzheimer's who wasn't going to let the disease define his legacy. In 2011, six months after he was diagnosed, he went on tour. Campbell's "Goodbye Tour" was supposed to last just a few weeks. It went on for almost two years as the singer played dozens of dates across the country.
"ERH is bringing this documentary to Cincinnati to draw attention to the challenges we all face in the battle against Alzheimer's disease," says Doug Spitler, ERH CEO. "Glen Campbell and his family set an example, and the movie brings home the idea that those who are stricken are not completely lost."
ERH remains on the forefront of dementia care and is piloting new and exciting non-pharmaceutical therapies that are showing very promising results. ERH offers memory care services at its Marjorie P. Lee and Deupree House retirement communities.
"We are excited to partner with Episcopal Retirement Homes to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease and the effect it has on those that have been diagnosed and their loved ones as well," said Paula Koellstedt, Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Cincinnati.
In addition to the special screening, the film will also be shown at the Mariemont Theatre, starting Friday, November 7th. Screening times can be viewed on their website at www.mariemonttheatre.com.
