Entrust CTO Addresses Malware Threats to Online Banking at Annual BAFT-IFSA Conference
Entrust to outline what works, and what doesn't, to stop man-in-the-browser malware
DALLAS, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Growing in number and sophistication, man-in-the-browser malware attacks are plaguing the financial industry. Delivering an important address about the issue, Entrust, Inc. Chief Technology Officer Eric Skinner will present at the 2010 BAFT-IFSA Annual Conference today and share which approaches have worked, and which haven't, in thwarting this new type of malware.
Skinner, a 20-year veteran in technology and security, will explain the growth of malware — including the evolution of man-in-the-middle to man-in-the-browser — and how the Zeus strand threatens financial institutions of all sizes and in all parts of the globe. Event participants will learn that many of the approaches that worked against man-in-the-middle will not, unfortunately, properly defend banks against the more sophisticated man-in-the-browser attacks.
The 2010 BAFT-IFSA Annual Conference runs Sept. 20-22 at the Hilton Hotel at the Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando, Fla. BAFT-IFSA is the premier global financial services association formed by the merger of the Bankers' Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT) and the International Financial Services Association (IFSA).
A leader in identity-based security solutions, Entrust enables organizations to layer security — according to access requirements or the risk of a given transaction — across diverse users and applications. Entrust's authentication capabilities include username and password, IP-geolocation, device, questions and answers, out-of-band one-time passcode (delivered via voice, SMS or e-mail), grid and eGrid cards, digital certificates (in software or on smart cards/USB Tokens) and a range of one-time-passcode tokens, including Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile.
BAFT-IFSA provides advocacy, education and community-building opportunities for financial services institutions and suppliers around the globe. It is the leading forum for analysis, discussion and action among international financial professionals and industry suppliers on a wide range of topics affecting transaction banking, including trade finance, payments, compliance, and asset servicing.
The Bankers' Association for Finance and Trade was a financial trade association whose membership represented a broad range of internationally active financial institutions and companies that provided important services throughout the global financial community. For more than 85 years, BAFT advanced the growth and evolution of international financial services. As a worldwide forum for analysis, discussion and advocacy in the international financial services community, BAFT played a unique role in expanding markets, shaping regulatory and legislative policy, developing business solutions and preserving the safety and soundness of the global financial system.
The International Financial Services Association, founded in 1923, is a world leader in representing the international operations areas of financial services providers, their customers, suppliers, and partners. The IFSA's focused on documentary credits, funds transfer, treasury operations, regulatory and compliance.
