DENVER, March 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprise Holdings Inc., the world's largest car rental company as measured by revenue and fleet, is supporting Colorado's rapid growth through investments in jobs and partnerships with critical community resources, as well as involvement in local community organizations. Enterprise Holdings operates – through an integrated global network of independent regional subsidiaries and franchises – the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands, including more than 100 branch offices in its Colorado subsidiary alone.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Colorado is one of the fastest-growing states in the U.S. As a result, Enterprise Holdings has increased its Colorado-based workforce more than 7 percent and plans to locally hire more than 150 individuals into its renowned Management Training program by the end of 2017. In fact, The Denver Post has repeatedly recognized Enterprise as a Top Workplace. In addition, Enterprise Holdings' Colorado subsidiary has achieved more than 30 percent growth during the past three years.
"Our goal is to provide sustainable mobility solutions that support Colorado's growing economy and population," said Steve Topalian, vice president and general manager of Enterprise Holdings in Colorado. "As we do that, we're proud to play a vital role in strengthening the communities we serve across the state."
Local Partnerships
Enterprise Holdings' diverse brand portfolio accounts for more than 6,400 fully staffed neighborhood and airport locations within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population. Other transportation services marketed under the Enterprise brand name in Colorado include Enterprise CarShare, Enterprise Rideshare, Enterprise Car Sales, Enterprise Truck Rental, Exotic Car Collection by Enterprise and Enterprise Fleet Management.
In fact, the metro Denver area South Metro Fire Rescue Authority (SMFRA) has been partnering with Enterprise Fleet Management since 2015. SMFRA uses its fleet to provide fire prevention, life safety, and emergency and rescue services to nearly 195,000 residents in the south Denver metropolitan area.
More recently, two Colorado school districts – Adams 12 Five Star Schools (Adams 12) in Thornton and Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) in Boulder – have partnered with Enterprise Fleet Management to save money and improve the quality and efficiency of their fleets. "Our partnership with Enterprise Fleet Management has led to outstanding improvements in our fleet's reliability, quality and efficiency," said David Anderson, director of transportation and fleet services at Adams 12.
"By leasing new, well-maintained vehicles from Enterprise Fleet Management, we are able to reduce fleet costs, significantly improve fuel efficiency, shrink our overall fleet size and retire most of our backup vehicles," said Bill Sutter, chief financial officer at BVSD. "Labor utilization has been improved by allowing our mechanics to focus their valuable time on our heavy-duty vehicles and buses, while maintenance staff are not sidelined by breakdowns of older vehicles."
Economic Impact and Community Involvement
In fiscal year 2016 (closed July 31, 2016), Enterprise Holdings' impact on the Colorado economy was nearly $90 million, including the following key contributions:
- $37 million in state and local tax revenues;
- $34 million spent with local collision repair centers, dealerships and vehicle maintenance facilities;
- $17.2 million in companywide purchases from diverse suppliers based in Colorado;
- Nearly $614,000 raised by employees and matching Enterprise Holdings Foundation donations for the United Way's Colorado chapters; and
- More than $200,000 in donations by the Enterprise Holdings Foundation to local charities, such as Children's Hospital Foundation, Denver Rescue Mission, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics of Colorado, University of Colorado Foundation and Urban Peak Denver.
Nearly 400 Enterprise, National and Alamo employees are involved with more than 100 charitable organizations across Colorado, including 40 employees who have helped build houses with Habitat for Humanity. Last year, nearly 200 golfers participated in Enterprise's 22nd annual Make-A-Wish Golf Tournament, which raised more than $30,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado. Enterprise of Colorado was also a bib sponsor of the annual Mile High United Way Turkey Trot in November. As a result, United Way recognized Enterprise of Colorado as a Mile High United Way Champion of Hope. In 2016, Enterprise was awarded United Way of Larimer County's Campaign of the Year.
"Giving back to the communities where we do business is a chief tenet of our company's mission," says Kim Smith, Enterprise Insurance Replacement Sales Director in Colorado, who also facilitates much of the company's community engagement in the state. "Enterprise is committed to promoting community growth and prosperity, whether through employment, charitable activities or service to our customers."
In late 2016, Enterprise's philanthropic arm announced a large donation aimed at fighting hunger around the globe. The program – called Fill Your Tank – celebrates the company's 60th anniversary by providing $60 million to address food insecurity. As part of the donation, each regional subsidiary received an allotment, which the local team could distribute as it saw fit. In Colorado, Fill Your Tank funds were allocated to three local food banks: Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado, Food Bank for Larimer County and Food Bank of the Rockies.
As part of the Enterprise 50 Million Tree Pledge, established in 2006 to celebrate Enterprise's 50th anniversary and to thank Enterprise customers for their support, the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation has funded the planting of 11 million trees. This includes 364,800 trees in Pike and San Isabel National Forests as well as Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests – and 25,000 more plantings are planned in the state of Colorado in 2017.
