Enhancements to SSH Communications Security's Universal Key Manager Provide New Tools to Manage and Control Trusted Access Credentials
Solution Helps Organizations Take Control of Critical Identity and Access Management Through Automation
HELSINKI and WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Though traditional IAM solutions have strengthened security from an end-user perspective, they present data security and compliance risks for the enterprise, as they do not address trusted access. SSH Communications Security today announced enhancements to its Universal SSH Key Manager (UKM) solution to help organizations more effectively manage SSH user key-based and encrypted access, control privileged access and enforce defined compliance policies.

Today's IAM solutions fail to fully address the requirements of trusted access – the automated and high-level access organizations provide to their systems administrators, developers and third-party systems. Organizations lack an efficient way to manage and govern trusted access credentials and have no visibility into the activities that occur within the secure channels that are created for trusted access operations.
- Universal SSH Key Manager helps customers discover, monitor, lockdown, remediate and automate the lifecycle of SSH user key-based access for interactive and machine-to-machine trusts without disrupting existing processes or the need to deploy agents. Updates include:
- Application-level policy management – Enterprises can define specific policies for discovering and identifying keys in their environment, making it easier to find them and bring them into compliance.
- Status and compliance reporting – UKM offers on-demand and scheduled reports that provide a view of the entire SSH key environment within the enterprise.
- New SSH Risk Assessment Tool – This feature integrates the company's existing Healthcheck with UKM and includes support for Windows (previously only Unix/Linux).
Tatu Ylönen, CEO, SSH Communications Security, said: "Identity and access management is not addressing a major portion of access control within many organizations due to poor to non-existent SSH key management. To take control back, organizations need to know what keys exist and which ones are violating defined policies. These enhancements to our UKM solution will enable them to regain control of their SSH user key-based and encrypted access without disrupting the flow of information, processes or business practices for on-premises and cloud environments."
